Nanomembranes for gas separation & CO₂ capture

About

I am Associate Professor at the Kyushu University Platform for Inter-/Transdisciplinary Research (Q-PIT), sub-coordinator of the education promotion division. Before joining Q-PIT in 2022, I spent 8 years at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I²CNER), Kyushu University — first as a postdoc and later as an Assistant Professor. My background spans physics, chemistry, and engineering (MS in Ukraine, PhD in Japan).

My research focuses on membrane science, particularly developing new materials for separating CO₂ from mixtures with nitrogen (industrial applications) and from air (direct air capture). Efficient gas-separation membranes could help capture large quantities of greenhouse gases currently emitted to the atmosphere. Through collaborations, I also study gas transport in polymeric and hybrid materials and ultra-thin films for novel applications.
